One of the most popular approaches to issues of workforce retention is through recruitment strategies. However, increasingly organisations from all industry sectors are facing challenges in filling job positions, and this is forcing a rethink in approaches to workforce capacity issues that include 'whole of organisation' strategies.  Organisation Development is such an approach through its emphasis on learning and development at both individual and organisational levels.  

Organisation development is a way of looking at opportunities across the whole organisation for developing cultures, structures, staffing practices, and leadership practice in ways that create the kind of organisations where people will want to stay.
